A driving force behind the creation of Atalan, Steve has worked to optimize patient-centered laboratory medicine for nearly two decades. As president and chief operating officer for Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories, he oversees an organization performing more than seven million tests annually with test capabilities matching the largest labs in the world, providing expert academic care in every community. He also managed Surgical Services, Specialty Pharmacy and Laboratory Services for Northwestern Medicine, and previously led Perioperative Services for Rush University Medical Center. Steve has a Master of Science in Health System Administration from Rush University.

Chief Operating Officer
Jami is a healthcare executive and entrepreneur, serving as the President and CEO of HealthEco where she strategically collaborates with healthcare organizations to foster and scale pioneering innovations throughout the industry. Her foundational experiences at Trinity Health and BJC Healthcare laid the groundwork for her leadership, enabling her to spearhead the expansion of HealthEco’s robust healthcare provider network, venture studio, commercialization accelerator, and investment platform magnifying its influence across both established providers and emerging startups. Beyond this, Jami’s entrepreneurial spirit is evident in her establishment of two niche healthcare consultancies focused on advancing innovation across the healthcare ecosystem and Vantedge Ventures, a venture fund aligned closely with U.S. health systems. Jami received a Master of Health Administration from St. Louis University and a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology, Chemistry from Missouri State University.

Robin Herbner

In addition to her financial prowess, Robin excels in understanding the nuances of delivering comprehensive, clinical laboratory services to clients ranging from large, tertiary care centers to small community practices. As chief administrative officer at Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories, she is responsible for the lab’s administrative, financial and outreach activities. Robin held financial planning and sales support roles with QuadMed and Assisted Living Concepts. She started her career in public accounting with Andersen and Grant Thornton as an auditor serving healthcare and nonprofit organizations. Robin earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Marquette University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Vice President of Growth
Darby is an executive leader with nearly 30 years of sales and operational experience in healthcare. He specializes in delivering provider value and has a proven track record of creating competitive advantages resulting in sales growth and engagement with key influencers and decision-makers. In his current role, Darby leads Atalan’s sales processes and operations to achieve revenue, margin and growth goals for the organization and portfolio companies. Prior to joining HealthEco, Darby was the founder and managing partner at Unicoi Healthcare Solutions and partner at Excelerant Consulting. Darby also managed sales and national accounts for Owens & Minor Distribution, DeRoyal Industries and Avadim Healthcare. Darby has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater.

Lydia is an accomplished integrated marketing communications executive with more than 15 years of experience driving brand elevation through her passion for data-driven strategy and dynamic storytelling. As Vice President of Marketing & Events at HealthEco, Lydia plays a pivotal part in shaping the marketing landscape of HealthEco and its portfolio companies. Lydia’s journey to HealthEco is marked by her excellence in executive-level marketing and public relations roles, both on the agency and brand side, which have empowered her with a unique perspective and the ability to orchestrate end-to-end marketing strategies for a wide range of brands. Notably, Lydia’s strategic marketing prowess has earned her prestigious accolades, including the Silver Anvil and Bronze Anvil Awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), as well as a Golden Triangle Award from the American Academy of Dermatology. Lydia’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Journalism: Strategic Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Kansas.

James is an executive with more than 18 years of experience in corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, private equity, and corporate strategy. He has spent the past decade in the healthcare industry, first in the Corporate Strategy Department at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana and then helping develop several healthcare ventures at Spivey & Company, where he serves as the CFO and interim CFO for multiple portfolio companies. James started his career in the energy industry working for two global fortune 500 companies. He has participated in almost $6 billion of closed financial transactions including CB&I’s $3.2 billion acquisition of The Shaw Group, $1.6 billion of credit instruments, $77 million of direct equity investments, and $1.2 billion of corporate share repurchases. James holds a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business. He also spent 12 years serving in the U.S Military, completing several overseas deployments.

James has spent the last 10 years in Healthcare Informatics developing, deploying, and integrating software applications for large hospital systems and healthcare startups. Working with systems like West Jefferson Medical Center and LCMC Health, James helped implement EMR cutovers and PACS migrations. Working for startups like EngageDX, Kallaco, and most recently, CaseSherpa, James focuses on developing strategies for product development and system integration, as well as building teams focused on client success and engagement. James holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from William Carey University. Before moving to Information Technology, James spent several years working as a Registered Nurse in the greater New Orleans area.

With over 15 years of experience in clinical laboratory settings, April is a dynamic professional, able to seamlessly navigate the intricate landscape of client interactions. As the Senior Account Manager for Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories, April drives sales, implementation, and client engagement, managing all aspects of the integration process. Her dedication and strategic vision contribute significantly to Atalan’s achievements by aligning client business needs with Atalan’s technology-driven platform, fostering strong client relationships, driving effective implementations, and optimizing operational success. April received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Marquette University.
Atalan represents the convergence of innovation and efficiency in laboratory services, offering operational enhancements that streamline workflows and maximize resources, allowing labs to expand and thrive.
